We graduated from basic training and were sent into harms way. We volunteered to serve our country knowing full well that it wasn't going to be easy. We defend those who can't defend themselves.
We serve in the forces which guard our country and our way of life and we are prepared to give our lives in its defense.
We don't make much money. It's not about becoming wealthy. We don't ask for handouts. We EARN everything we have.
Sometimes we're injured.
Through it all we fight. Through adversity the likes of those that Occupy will never understand. When things back home get difficult it's our welfare that is the first to be ignored. Our welfare is the first to be cut. Not the welfare of those that do nothing and ask for everything but the welfare of those that risk everything and ask for nothing. Unfortunately, we don't have time to protest. We don't have time to complain. Because we must stand between our fellow Americans and those that would do them harm.
We are the proud one percent.
We few.
We chosen few.

They say that people sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. This is the case, yet most people dont know that this is the reason the are able to sleep peacefully. Service members for the most part dont do this for the money and benefits, most do it because it is a belief that this country and her way of life is important and our freedoms are important. I had soldiers that didnt make enough money to pay their bills. Countless times, I have given money out of my own pocket to help, or taken up a collection to help. But yet ask 99% of us, and we would tell you we would gladly do it all again.
